Stencils are all over Lisbon; the backstreets of Bairro Alto are the place where most of the artists do and show this peculiar street art (which is not socially recognized).

Following the logics of advertising , but whithout the aim of making money, stencil is a form of expression different from the regular patterned communication, it portrays the context in which we live and its main goal is to provoke reactions;
Stencil culture is a non orthodox political art, escaping to the art as merchandise or as a mean of evasion.
Have a walk in Bairro Alto, and pay attention to the walls... It's Lisbon who's talking!
